Lorens reign halted

Members

Edward Lorens has resigned as coach of Polish side GKS Katowice after a poor run of results.

Bad start
Lorens only replaced Jan Zurek on the eve of the new season, but his reign began badly with a 4-0 home defeat by Groclin Grodzisk Wielkopolski. Katowice also had the disappointment of losing on away goals in the UEFA Cup qualifying round to FK Cementarnica 55 of F.Y.R. Macedonia.

Temporary replacement
"I won't let anything ruin everything we worked so hard to achieve last season," said club president Piotr Dziurowicz. Lorens's temporary replacement is his assistant, the 54-year-old Lechoslaw Olsza, who has been with the club since 2000. His spell in charge started on Wednesday with a 1-0 away win at second division Arka Gdynia in the Polish Cup.
