Training centre
The 28-year-old died in June after collapsing during his country's FIFA Confederations Cup semi-final against Colombia in Saint-Etienne. Tests showed that he died from natural causes related to his heart. Proceeds from the game on 11 November will help towards a training centre dedicated to Foé in the Cameroonian capital of Yaoundé.
Team-mates together
Players from Lyon along with two of his other former clubs, RC Lens and Manchester City FC, could line up for the contest, the venue of which is expected to be either Lens or Lyon. Foé was committed to helping others during his career, and had expressed a wish to work with youngsters in his homeland.
High support
Frédéric Thiriez, the French Professional League chairman, first raised the idea in July. He was delighted the plan was coming together as it would "rescue Marc-Vivien Foé’s family and his great projects".
