Gress shown door by Sturm

Austrian side SK Sturm Graz have dismissed coach Gilbert Gress after just three months in charge.

Bad results
The two-times Austrian champions have endured a slow start to the season and are currently ninth in the ten-team Austrian Bundesliga. Club president Hannes Kartnig said he had lost patience with the French coach, who formerly led the Swiss national team: "The reason was that he didn't have any success. With a team like this you simply can't be shuffling around at the bottom."

Strasbourg hero
The 61-year-old ended his playing career at RC Strasbourg in 1975 and later led the club to their only French title as coach. More recently he was in charge of Switzerland from 2000-2001. He was coach of FC Metz for six months last season but was dismissed when the team were relegated from Ligue 1 for the first time in 36 seasons.
