Poor start
Zagreb are bottom of the Croatian First League after winning just two of their opening eight games. Kranjcar, whose recruitments include the former Croatia playmaker Robert Prosinečki, is understood to have been in conflict with the Zagreb board. He led Zagreb to the Croatian title in 2001/2002 and returned to the club this summer after a 12-month absence.
