Lienen out at Mönchengladbach

Members

Ewald Lienen has been sacked as coach of struggling VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Bottom three
Saturday's loss, at the hands of Hannover 96, saw the club drop to 16th place in the German Bundesliga table. "We had set goals for ourselves," said club director Christian Hochstätter. "But we are very far from them and we no longer believe that we can achieve them with Ewald Lienen."

Fach recruited
Lienen, who joined the club six months ago, will be replaced by 41-year-old Holger Fach, formerly with lower league side FC Rot-Weiss Essen. He said: "First of all I have to take a look at the team - all I know is we have to start winning again."
