Former youth player
The 24-year-old had attracted interest from RC Celta de Vigo but instead returns to a club where he was based as a youth player. "It is a nice club that brings back good memories, as I played in their youth team in my early career," said the former Dutch Under-21 international. The move follows previous loan spells at FC Den Bosch in 1999/2000 and Willem II last term.
Platvoet injured
Van der Gun's arrival will help compensate for the absence of striker Rik Platvoet, who will be out for between four and six weeks after an ankle operation. The 28-year-old, a summer recruit from first division Heracles Almelo, has chipped a bone in his right ankle and will undergo surgery on 16 September.
Coaches rewarded
Finnish Veikkausliiga clubs FC Haka and HJK Helsinki have given their coaches contract extensions. Olli Huttunen has signed a new three-year deal at Haka, tying himself to the club until 2006. Keith Armstrong, meanwhile, has committed to two more years at HJK. He initially signed a two-year deal with the option of a further two years, an option the club and coach have now taken up.
Smoje joins Zagreb
Defender Dario Smoje has joined NK Zagreb on a two-year contract. The 25-year-old Smoje left NK Dinamo Zagreb in the summer after a dispute with the club and his first match in a Zagreb shirt will be against his former employers.
Cutura heading home
Another player to have left Dinamo is Mario Cutura, who has returned to his hometown club, HNK Cibalia. The 25-year-old midfield player said: "I didn't get a real chance. It was obvious that nothing would change after new coach Nikola Jurcevic came and I decided to return home."
