Søren Kusk has replaced Poul Erik Andreasen as coach of Danish Superliga side Aalborg BK.
Andreason relieved
Kusk, who was dismissed as coach of Viborg FF this spring after a run of bad results, has taken over at AaB, where he played more than 100 games, after the club's board decided to relieve Andreasen of his responsibilities.
Too much pressure
Andreasen was due to step down in the new year but had recently complained that, after poor results in the opening six matches of the season, he was struggling to deal with the pressure of what felt like a 24-hour-a-day job.
Academy job
"As he has emphasised his wish to step down again this week, we have chosen to relieve him of his obligations," said sports director Lynge Jacobsen. "But I want to point out that he has done a good and loyal job for AaB, where he will now continue as head of our academy."
Short-term solution
Kusk has taken over from Andreasen but only on a short-term contract. "The contract with Søren Kusk is valid for the rest of the autumn season," said Jacobsen. "It is still not known who is going to be coach from 1 January, but it is obvious that Søren Kusk has every opportunity to make himself a future at AaB."
