Clear lead
Goals from Ivica Mornar, Marc Hendrikx, Aruna Dindane, Christian Wilhelmsson and Michal Zewlakow made it six wins out of six for Anderlecht, and victory was all the sweeter as Brugge lost 3-2 against K. Sint-Truidense VV. Brugge are now seven points adrift of the league leaders after 38-year-old Danny Boffin scored a late winner for Sint-Truiden.
Shock result
Another shock result saw newly promoted Cercle Brugge KV win 2-0 against R. Standard de Liège. Having lost against KRC Genk last week, it was a bitter blow for Standard coach Dominique D'Onofrio. "At half-time, I could have changed six of my players," he said. "They were so weak mentally."
Impressive start
Elsewhere K. Lierse SK, coached by Emilio Ferrera, continued their impressive early form with a 2-1 win against KSC Lokeren OV that moves them to fourth, level on eleven points with Brugge, Genk and Sint-Truiden. Lokeren, who face English club Manchester City FC in the UEFA Cup on Wednesday, remain bottom of the table.
Dramatic draw
Finally, R. Charleroi SC scored their first goal of the season on Saturday to earn a 1-1 draw at KAA Gent despite having three players dismissed.
