Hamrun Spartans FC coach Patrick Curmi has resigned after his side's fifth consecutive defeat of the new Premier League season.
No points
Curmi took the decision after a 1-0 loss at the hands of Balzan Youths FC on Sunday. The defeat left the team anchored to the bottom of the table in Malta with no points to their name.
Not enough
Speaking to uefa.com, Curmi, who began his career in the youth set-up at Spartans before taking charge at Lija Athletic FC, Pieta' Hotspurs FC and Marsa FC, said: "Unfortunately, my abilities did not produce the desired results to get the club back on their feet. It was quite clear that my efforts were not enough."
Thanks given
He added: "I repeat I did all I could as head coach of the side this season. I would like to thank my assistant, Stefan Sultana, the players, committee and supporters of the club." He is the first coaching casualty in the Premier League this season.
