FC Universitatea Craiova president Adrian Mititelu has resigned only 29 days after taking over at the Romanian club.

Three draws
In the three Divizia A games since Mititelu became club president, Universitatea have collected three draws and currently lie in tenth place in the 16-team Romanian top flight. With eleven points from ten matches so far, they are eight points adrift of a European place and only two points above bottom side FC Oradea.

'I was wrong'
"When I became President, I thought that I would be able to achieve something big but I was wrong," said Mititelu, who announced he would retain his 25 per cent stake in the club. "I invested a lot of money, as well as all my soul, but it was for nothing. The press destroyed me, because I refused to play their game."

'Impossible circumstances'
"Perhaps the press will have the best solutions in order to save and to support the team and the club," Mititelu said. "In such circumstances, without any local support, it is impossible to do something good."

'I do not agree'
Universitatea's majority shareholder Dinel Staicu, said: "I do not agree with this resignation. Having heard that ten players are keen to leave the club during the winter break, I warn the local authorities that, if they do not support the club, I will withdraw my financing and I'll let them, the mayor and the local councillors, run and play for the club."
