Article summary
Olympiacos CFP kept their grip at the top with a precious 1-0 win against city rivals AEK Athens FC.
Article body
Stoltidis goal
Despite being reduced to ten men following the dismissal of Tassos Pantos, Olympiacos had the edge over their city rivals and a close-range strike from Ieroklis Stoltidis in the 66th minute was enough to separate the sides. AEK's best chance came and went as early as the fourth minute when Kostas Katsouranis saw his shot cleared off the line.
In touch
Two points behind the leaders in second-place are Panathinaikos FC, who condemned Panionios NFC to their first defeat of the season, running out convincing 3-0 winners. Dimitris Papadopoulos collected two second-half goals after Silvio Maric had opened the scoring.
PAOK progress
FC PAOK climbed into the top three on the back of a 2-1 defeat of Kallithea FC, taking the lead through a 26th-minute penalty from Dimitris Zavadias and doubling the advantage following a header from Dimitris Salpingidis. Kallithea pulled one back before the interval by virtue of a close-range shot from Giannis Tatsis.
Katemis leveller
The rest of the action was dominated by draws. Fourth-placed Egaleo FC were held 0-0 away against mid-table Paniliakos FC while Iraklis FC drew 1-1 with Halkidona FC, going ahead in the 52nd minute after a long-range shot from Kostas Nebegleras but only taking a share of the spoils after Giannis Katemis levelled. Both teams finished the match with ten men.
Soares winner
The Ionikos FC–FC Aris Thessaloniki and Proodeftiki FC versus Xanthi FC encounters also ended in 1-1 draws but OFI Crete FC were good for a win, edging out Akraitos FC thanks to Alesandro Soares' powerful strike in added time.
