Cibalia loss prompts Lusic to leave

Coach Srecko Lusic has resigned after a weekend defeat left HNK Cibalia second from bottom of the Croatian top flight.

Players warned
A 4-2 home loss to NK Marsonia was Lusic's final act at the Mladost stadium, having only replaced Milan Petkovic in April. Chairman Mario Mestrovic has also warned the players that some of them will be released when the league pauses for its winter break.

Hopes dashed
Cilablia had started the season with a chance of clinching a first-ever UEFA Cup place via the UEFA Intertoto Cup, but their challenge was ended in the semi-finals by VfL Wolfsburg.
