Article body
R. Antwerp FC have appointed Dojcin Perazic as their new coach following the dismissal of René Desaeyere earlier this week.
Unknown quantity
The 57-year-old is a relative unknown having never coached in the top flight before, instead learning his trade at clubs such as KVK Tienen, Stade Leuven and Verbroedering Geel. He was born in Serbia and Montenegro but has Belgian nationality, and until recently had been working as a taxi driver.
Successful spell
In the 1970s, Perazic played for FK Crvena Zvezda and FC Vojvodina before trying his luck in the Netherlands with ADO Den Haag. In four years with the Dutch club, Perazic won the Dutch Cup, helped Den Haag to the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup quarter-finals and earned international recognition.
'No problem'
Despite his lack of top-flight experience, Perazic said it would be "no problem. I feel good enough. For 15 years I have been waiting for a serious chance, I do not want the smaller clubs anymore."
