News round-up: Paul Scharner could leave FK Austria Wien after a row with coach Joachim Löw.

Löw point
The defender refused to be substituted during the 1-0 home defeat against Grazer AK and Löw said afterwards: "Scharner will not play for us again." Scharner, who spent last season on loan with SC Interwetten said: "The coach and I have recently agreed in which position I would be of best use for the team, but I am always fielded somewhere else and have played in seven different positions so far."

Säumel's new deal
Staying in Austria, SK Sturm Graz have agreed a new contract with Austria Under-21 striker Jürgen Säumel until 2008. Club president Hannes Kartnig said: "The decision to extend our deal with Jürgen Säumel illustrates our desire to keep faith in young players and we hope to continue on this path in the future." The youngster joined the club in 1999.

Double blow for 1860
TSV 1860 München coach Falko Götz was counting the cost of Saturday's 1-0 home win against Eintracht Frankfurt after both Janne Saarinen and Marküs Pürk were ruled out for three weeks with injuries. Finnish international Saarinen suffered a muscle tear in his left thigh while Pürk has damaged the meniscus in his left knee.

Carsley setback
Everton FC have lost Irish international Lee Carsley for a month with a medial ligament injury in his knee. The midfield player suffered the problem during Sunday's goalless draw with Southampton FC. Sweden winger Niclas Alexandersson, meanwhile, has returned to Goodison Park after his loan spell at West Ham United FC.

Vitesse lose Jevric
SBV Vitesse have lost goalkeeper Dragoslav Jevric for up to six weeks with a shoulder injury. Jevric was injured during Saturday's 2-2 draw at RKC Waalwijk and his place in the side will now go to Jimmy van Fessem.

Duo commit to ÍA
ÍA Akranes captain Gunnlaugur Jónsson and winger Kari Steinn Reynisson have both agreed new two-year deals with the Icelandic Cup winners. Jónsson, 28, had received offers from a number of clubs after his previous contract expired. Instead, both he and the 29-year-old Reynisson - scorer of some important goals in last season's cup run - are staying put.
