Hreidarsson silenced Ewood Park when he headed in Paolo Di Canio corner's on 33 minutes, after an opening half-hour which the home side had dominated. Blackburn continued to enjoy a territorial advantage in the second half, but could not find a way past a stubborn Charlton defence marshalled by goalkeeper Dean Kiely. The win lifted Charlton to seventh place in the table, while Blackburn stayed in 15th position after this third straight defeat.
