Portugal round-up: Alenichev leaves it late

Members

Dmitri Alenichev gave FC Porto a 1-0 win at city rivals Boavista FC in Monday's Portuguese SuperLiga match.

Unbeaten record
Champions Porto, who had Deco sent off late on, therefore succeeded in maintaining the only unbeaten record in the division and stretched their lead over second-placed Sporting Clube de Portugal to seven points.

Ill-tempered game
Boavista pressed hard from the start of what proved an ill-tempered game in which the referee showed 12 yellow cards and one red, as well as disallowing home striker Duda's effort for offside.

Alenichev finish
Porto playmaker Deco missed a golden opportunity to open the scoring on the hour when he beat goalkeeper William Andem but fired wide of an open goal. However, substitute Alenichev then snatched a winner in the 77th minute with a shot from inside the box after a neat pass from the left by Brazilian striker Derlei.

Deco sent off
Porto were reduced to ten men three minutes later when Deco picked up a second yellow card but held on comfortably for their eighth league victory in nine matches.
