A blistering left-foot volley from Marco Di Vaio six minutes from time rescued a share of the spoils for Juventus FC when they took on joint-leaders AC Milan at the Giuseppe Meazza in Serie A on Sunday.
Trezeguet flick
After a goalless first half, Milan had taken the lead when Jon Dahl Tomasson converted a pass from Andrea Pirlo but just as the home side looked set to open up a three-point lead at the summit, Di Vaio latched on to David Trezeguet's flicked ball to lash in an equaliser.
Undefeated Roma
AS Roma took advantage of the top two dropping points by defeating Reggina Calcio 2-0 at the Stadio Olimpico to move within touching distance of the leaders. A goal in each half from Vincenzo Montella and John Carew did the damage for undefeated Roma, who climbed above city rivals S.S. Lazio into third, two points behind the 2003 UEFA Champions League finalists.
Inzaghi seals it
Lazio played on Saturday, edging out home side Udinese Calcio by the odd goal in three. The goals all came in a 16-minute spell, with Lazio's Bernardo Corradi claiming the opener on 17 minutes and Simone Inzaghi rendering Vicenzo Iaquinta's equaliser irrelevant.
Adriano injured
Parma AC sit in fifth position following their comeback against Brescia Calcio at the Maria Rigamonti - although a hamstring injury picked up by prolific goalscorer Adriano muted their celebrations.
Super substitute
An eighth-minute Domenico Morfeo goal cancelled out Brescia's early opener but Parma fell behind for a second time when Luigi Di Biagio found the net on 36 minutes. Marco Marchionni ensured honours were even at the interval and substitute Alberto Gilardino - on for Adriano - headed what proved to be the winning goal. Matuzalem, who had scored Brescia's first goal, was sent off with eleven minutes remaining.
Inter sixth
Second-half goals from Christian Vieri and Alvaro Recoba ensured Internazionale FC ended their five-game winless run by defeating AC Chievo Verona 2-0. The three points moved the Milan side up to sixth in the table.
Basement battle
In the weekend's other games, US Lecce's 2-1 defeat of Empoli FC in the basement battle meant AC Perugia dropped into the bottom three following their 1-0 loss at the hands of Modena FC, whose solitary goal was scored by Riccardo Allegretti. Ancona Calcio played out a goalless draw with AC Siena while Sampdoria UC won 1-0 against Bologna FC thanks to Cristiano Doni's 33rd-minute free-kick.
