Late goals delight Arsenal

Arsenal FC temporarily increased their lead to four points by beating Tottenham Hotspur FC.

Arsenal FC increased their English Premiership lead to four points after coming from behind to beat North London neighbours Tottenham Hotspur FC 2-1.

Ljungberg winner
With both Chelsea FC welcoming Newcastle United FC and Manchester United FC visiting Liverpool FC on Sunday, unbeaten Arsenal did not want to stumble. Darren Anderton's fifth-minute goal put Tottenham ahead, and they held that lead until the 70th minute. But at that point Robert Pires claimed an equaliser and Fredrik Ljungberg struck a winner with the aid of a deflection off Stephen Carr nine minutes from the end.

Johansson delights Chalton
In another London derby, Charlton Athletic FC, are in the fourth UEFA Champions slot after beating Fulham FC 3-0. Graham Stuart was on target after 12 minutes and Jonathan Johansson added two more on 69 and 76 minutes meaning Sean Davis's late goal was only a consolation.

Wolves hold Birmingham
Birmingham City had held a top-four position on Saturday morning, but slipped as they were held 1-1 at Wolverhampton Wanderers FC. Mikael Forssell, on loan from Chelsea, put Birmingham ahead early in the second half, but Steffen Iversen equalised 24 minutes from the end to move Wolves a second point away from the relegation zone - although two sides in the bottom three were not in action, Leicester City FC, visitors to Manchester City FC tomorrow, and Blackburn Rovers FC, who play Everton FC on Monday.

Portsmouth dismiss Leeds
Leeds United AFC remain bottom after losing 6-1 at Portsmouth FC. A 30-minute delay for crowd congestion and floodlight failure did not stop Portsmouth taking a 17th-minute lead through Dejan Stefanovic, and although Alan Smith equalised immediately, Gary O'Neill struck on the stroke of half-time and Hayden Foxe added another after the break. O'Neill then added another before Patrick Berger and Yakubu Ayegbini completed the scoring.

Villa slip
Middlesbrough have put their poor early season form behind them, winning 2-0 at Aston Villa FC. Boudewijn Zenden scored on the half-hour mark and Michael Ricketts confirmed victory with a 49th-minute penalty. Bolton Wanderers FC drew 0-0 with Southampton FC, who had Michael Svensson dismissed for two bookable offences.
