Juve leapfrog muted Milan

AC Milan were held to a goalless draw by Parma AC on Sunday as Juventus FC moved clear at the top.

AC Milan's Serie A title bid was jolted when they were held to a goalless draw by Parma AC on Sunday - allowing Juventus FC to move clear at the top with their 4-1 win against Udinese Calcio.

Super Sicignano
Milan were frustrated by plucky Parma, for whom Vincenzo Sicignano made a sparkling debut in goal and although they maintained their unbeaten record, Carlo Ancelotti's side now sit two points behind leaders Juve.

Udinese ahead
The Italian champions may have ultimately breezed past Udinese, but it was a different story until the last 15 minutes of their encounter at the Stadio Delle Alpi. Alessandro Del Piero hit the crossbar with a 55th-minute penalty before Udinese went ahead through a spot-kick of their own, Marek Jankulovksi tucking away the ball after Juve keeper Gianluigi Buffon had felled Dino Fava.

Di Vaio double
The visitors held the lead until the 79th minute when substitute Marco Di Vaio eased fears of a first home defeat in more than ten months by turning David Trezeguet's cross into the Udinese net. Fellow substitute Fabrizio Miccoli put Juve ahead six minutes later and there was still time for Pavel Nedved to set up further goals for Di Vaio and Trezeguet.

Brazilian double
After a goalless first 80 minutes, goals from Brazilians Mancini and Emerson secured AS Roma a 2-0 victory in the Rome derby against S.S. Lazio. The win ensured Fabio Capello's side retained their undefeated record in the league this season and moved level on points with Milan into second place.

Cruz control
Sixth-placed Internazionale FC strengthened their position with a 3-0 victory against Ancona Calcio. A free-kick from Julio Cruz put Alberto Zaccheroni's into a 25th-minute lead that was doubled by Marco Materazzi's header just after half-time. Christian Vieri made sure of all three points with a predatory finish eleven minutes from the end.

Basement battle
In Saturday's basement battle, Bologna FC's Claudio Bellucci came closest to breaking the deadlock in his side's goalless draw with Brescia Calcio - a solitary point leaving both sides hovering above the drop zone. Elsewhere, bottom club Empoli FC were beaten 2-0 by UC Sampdoria, who climbed up to seventh.

Red mist
The pick of the other Sunday games was nine-man AC Chievo Verona's 2-1 away victory against AC Siena. Sergio Pellister's double had seemingly put the visitors on easy street but two red cards in five minutes threatened to ruin their day. Shortly after Franco Semioli and Lorenzo D'Anna had received their marching orders, Enricho Chiesa pulled a goal back for Siena - but Cheivo held out during a frantic last 15 minutes to seal victory.

Spoils shared
AC Perugia's home game with US Lecce and Reggina Calcio's encounter against Modena FC both ended honours even, with Fabio Grosso's 86th-minute strike rescuing a share of the spoils for Perugia in a 2-2 draw and Modena's Nicola Campedelli cancelling out Stefano Dall's goal in the game that finished 1-1 at the Oreste Granillo.
