Dutch casualties
De Vogt sustained a suspected torn ligament during his side's Eredivisie defeat at FC Utrecht on Sunday, and is expected to be out of action for several months. "I immediately knew it was a torn ligament," the player said. "I know I face a very tough period now." Meanwhile, Utrecht utility man Pascal Bosschaart is rated doubtful for the UEFA Cup second round second-leg tie against AJ Auxerre later this month. Bosschaart suffered a deep flesh wound to his calf in a challenge with Waalwijk's Patrick van Diemen.
Köln setback
Bottom of the Bundesliga, 1. FC Köln's woes increased with the news that defender Moses Sichone will be sidelined until the new year with a knee ligament injury. The Zambian international limped out of Saturday's 4-0 defeat at VfL Bochum 1848 after only 19 minutes. He will not, however, require surgery. Also in Germany, FC Hansa Rostock defender Delano Hill faces a three to four-week lay-off after dislocating his shoulder in Saturday's win against 1. FC Kaiserslautern.
Mons do without
In Belgium, RAEC Mons must do without midfield player Cheikh Gadiaga for three months after the Senegalese finally succumbed to a persistent knee ligament injury. Gadiaga is to undergo surgery after rest failed to cure the problem.
Swedish changes
In Sweden, veteran striker Robert Andersson has decided to leave Halmstads BK shortly before his contract expires. The Allsvenskan side postponed talks on a new deal, so Andersson chose to move on. Meanwhile, AIK Solna have appointed former fans' favourite Nebojsa Novakovic to the club's coaching staff. "It's a dream come true," said Novakovic, who spent seven seasons as an AIK player.
