Djurgården delight at Sjölund switch

Swedish champions Djurgårdens IF have signed Finnish Under-21 international Daniel Sjölund from Liverpool FC.

Bright future
Sjölund spent the 2003 season on loan with the Swedish champions and impressed enough to earn a three-year deal. The former West Ham United FC striker failed to make the breakthrough in England but Djurgården are confident the 20-year-old can be a success in the Allsvenskan.

'Valuable asset'
Djurgården coach Zoran Lukic said: "Daniel is a quick player and with a bit more physical strength, he'll be a very valuable asset to the squad." Sjölund scored three goals in 18 games during the Stockholm club's title-winning campaign.

Riddez switch
Meanwhile, Djurgården winger Joel Riddez has joined Örebro SK after failing to secure a regular place. "I knew it was going to be tough at Djurgården and Örebro was my best alternative," he said. Örebro have also signed BK Forwards left-back Peter Olsson on a two-year contract.
