Temporary replacement
Hörmann will replace Peter Assion, who was appointed coach on a temporary basis following the dismissal of Lars Söndergaard at the end of October. Assion will remain in charge until the winter break and will then concentrate on his job as director of sport at the Austrian Bundesliga side.
'I'm looking forward to it'
"I am very much looking forward to my new job in Salzburg and will take a look at the team in the home game against SV Mattersburg on Sunday," said Hörmann, who played for the club between 1996 and 1998. He has signed a contract until summer 2005, with the option of a two-year extension. Salzburg currently lie ninth in the ten-team Austrian top flight.
