Vecera vacates Brno post

Members

Karel Vecera has been sacked as coach of 1. FC Brno following his team's slump in the Czech First Division.

Loss of form
Brno led the league after four games of the season but have won only one of their last eleven matches to slump to ninth place. Saturday's 1-1 home draw with FC Marila Príbram brought an end to Vecera's reign, which began in 2001. His team also lost in the UEFA Intertoto Cup semi-finals against Spain's Villarreal CF.

Caretaker appointed
Reserve-team coach Stanislav Schwarz has taken charge for Saturday's trip to SFC Opava, Brno's final game before the winter break. A permanent appointment will be made later. Brno are the seventh top-flight club to change coach this season, following 1. FC Synot, Príbram, FK Jablonec 97, FK Chmel Blšany, FK Viktoria Žižkov and Opava.
