Two goals from Brazilian Rodrigo Taddei and one from his compatriot Fernando Menegazzo helped AC Siena to a surprise 3-0 win at home to S.S. Lazio early on Saturday night.
Leaders in action
The win lifted Siena further away from the foot of the Serie A table, and meant that fifth-placed Lazio lost more ground on the top four. Leaders Juventus FC play Internazionale FC in Saturday's other game.
Taddei on target
Dejan Stankovic had a glorious chance to give Lazio the lead in the 19th minute, but shot high and wide from just two metres out. Taddei gave Siena the lead four minutes before half-time, shooting into the net after Lazio failed to clear a cross from Gianni Guigou.
Taddei strikes again
Two minutes later the Brazilian doubled the advantage, capitalising on a mistake from Lazio's Sinisa Mihajlovic. Nicola Ventola won possession as the defender was trying to usher the ball out for a goal kick and sent over a low cross which Taddei slotted in.
Stankovic sent off
Siena's Norwegian striker Tore André Flo then missed a good chance to score a third, shooting over when unmarked inside the area, before Stankovic was sent off in the 67th minute for dissent.
Late third
Menegazzo wrapped up the victory in added time after being set up by the outstanding Taddei. The result moved Siena up to seventh place.
