Olympique Lyonnais lead Ligue 1 after Péguy Luyindula's penalty sealed a 1-0 win against RC Strasbourg.

Olympique Lyonnais moved to the top of France's Ligue 1 after a dramatic 1-0 win against RC Strasbourg in a Friday night game where both sides had a player sent off.

Luyindula penalty
An injury-time penalty from Péguy Luyindula secured the victory for a side who played 30 minutes with a one-man disadvantage after Michael Essien was dismissed just before the hour for a second bookable offence. Strasbourg seemed to be heading for a point, but then midfield player Fabrice Ehret handled in the box, earning himself a second yellow card, and Luyindula, who hit the post in the first half, dispatched the spot kick.

Moanco chance
AS Monaco FC drop to second, but are level on 30 points with reigning champions Lyon and can return to the top on Saturday with a point at home to fifth-placed RC Lens. Strasbourg remain ninth.
