Battling Murcia earn draw

Real Murcia CF twice came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw at home to Real Sociedad de Fútbol in the Primera División.

Second bottom
Murcia remained in 19th place despite the draw, a result that lifted Real one place in the standings to 15th. Murcia have nine points, one more than bottom side RCD Espanyol, while Real climbed to 14 points.

Curling free-kick
The visitors took the lead against the run of play when midfield player Igor Gabilondo curled in a free-kick on the edge of the area on 30 minutes.

García glee
Murcia, who dominated for long periods of the first half, were finally rewarded for their efforts two minutes after the break when striker Luis García equalised with a strike that was a virtual duplicate of the Real goal.
 
Instant response
Parity lasted less than a minute, however, Real striker Óscar De Paula volleying in after fine work by Aitor López on the right. Again Murcia refused to concede defeat, and once more they were rewarded as David Karanka sent a glancing header low into the far corner of the net in the 69th minute to help his side gain a hard-earned point.

League leaders Real Madrid CF play high-flying Club Atlético Osasuna later on Saturday, while third-placed Valencia CF will be hoping to keep the pressure on when they play host to Real Zaragoza.
