Slavia decide on Dostanic

Bulgarian Premier League club PFC Slavia Sofia have appointed Ratko Dostanic as their new head coach.

PFC Slavia Sofia have appointed Ratko Dostanic as their new head coach.

European ambitions
The Serbian coach replaces Atanas Dzhambazki, who will remain at the Bulgarian Premier League club as Dostanic's assistant. "Slavia are a very good side," Dostanic said. "Our aim is to play in Europe next season. In football everything is possible, so I believe Slavia have a decent chance."

Familiar face
Dostanic, who has signed a two-and-a-half year contract with Slavia, is a familiar face in Bulgarian football, having spent last season as assistant to Slavoljub Muslin at PFC Levski Sofia. He went on to take charge of Serbo-Montenegrin Cup winners FK Sartid, but left the club last week.

Successful spell
Dostanic becomes Slavia's third Serbian coach in the last three seasons, after Jarko Olareviv twice and Miodrag Ješic both had brief spells in charge. Jesic was in charge at the start of the season, but resigned after a 3-0 defeat by PFC Makedonska Slava. Dzambazki took over and guided Slavia to 12 wins and two draws in his 16 matches in charge.
