'Typical Brazilian skill'
Slavia have taken the left-sided player on a year's loan from Brazilian second division side Paulista FC. Marco Tulio played under Slavia manager Pavel Rehák during a brief spell in Japanese football, and according to head coach Miroslav Beránek, "he is definitely a first-team player". "He has typical Brazilian skill and reminds me of Roberto Carlos with his shooting," Beránek said.
Necessary cover
The 22-year-old, who links up with compatriot Adauto da Sousa in Prague, can operate in defence or midfield, and covers the gap left by captain Richard Dostálek and Czech international Adam Petrous, who recently joined Russian club FC Rubin Kazan. Slavia lie fourth in the Czech first division, nine points behind leaders FC Baník Ostrava, and were eliminated in the UEFA Cup second round.
