Olympiacos back in the mood

Members

Olympiacos CFP returned to domestic action in style with a 3-0 win against FC Aris Thessaloniki.

Olympiacos CFP went some way to atoning for the 7-0 drubbing suffered at the hands of Juventus FC in the UEFA Champions League in midweek by dispatching FC Aris Thessaloniki 3-0 in the Hellenic National League.

Giovanni show
Brazilian playmaker Giovanni was undoubtedly the man of the match. His close-range shot allowed the title holders to go ahead in the 28th minute, then he laid on a precise cross for Predrag Djordjevic to double the advantage with a header before collecting his second goal midway through the second half.

Egaleo march on
Second-placed Egaleo FC extended their unbeaten run to 12 matches with a 1-0 defeat of Kallithea FC. The only goal of the encounter arrived in the 53rd minute after a powerful shot from Anestis Agritis sailed in from the edge of the area.

Match turned
FC PAOK, in third, ran out 2-1 winners against Halkidona FC despite falling behind to a 12th-minue own goal from Guy Feutchine, who turned an attempted clearance into his own net. Second-half strikes from Giorgos Koutsis and Giasemakis Giasemi turned the match on its head.

Quickly secured
Fourth-placed Panathinaikos FC wrapped up their 3-1 defeat of Proodeftiki FC in the first half. They too conceded early by letting in Goran Vlaovic’s header but Giorgos Poulopoulos levelled on the half hour and Miltiadis Sapanis soon extended the advantage. Michalis Konstantinou sealed the win in the 43rd minute following an Angelos Bassinas assist.

AEK struggle
AEK Athens FC, in fifth, had to struggle before eventually prevailing 2-0 against OFI Crete FC on their travels. A powerful shot from Ivan Russev finally gave the visitors the lead in the 68th minute before Vassilis Tsiartas collected the second soon after.

Hit for six
Panionios NFC were the most significant victors, trouncing Akraitos FC 6-1 to end a barren run of six matches without a win. Vangelis Mantzios, Nikos Mitrou, Stavros Tziortziopoulos, Christos Kontis, Cristian Pino and Arkadiusz Klimek were in the goals. Elsewhere, Paniliakos FC suffered a 2-1 reverse at home against Iraklis FC while Xanthi FC overcame Ionikos FC 2-0.
