Udinese Calcio were 1-0 winners at home to US Lecce in Serie A thanks to a spectacular long-range strike from midfield player Giampiero Pinzi.

Well-struck winner
The 22-year-old collected the ball in midfield in the 31st minute and burst forward before beating the diving Lecce goalkeeper Marco Amelia with a low drive.

Important save
Lecce might have drawn level two minutes before half-time but Udinese goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis produced a good save to keep out an effort from Ernesto Chevanton.

Narrow margin
The Uruguayan striker was Lecce's biggest threat, working tirelessly and regularly calling De Sanctis into action, but he lacked midfield support and Udinese held on. The win moved the home side into seventh place in the Italian top flight, above UC Sampdoria who face AC Perugia later on Saturday.

Chance for Roma
With AC Milan's game with AC Siena postponed due to Carlo Ancelotti's side participation in the European/South American Cup, leaders AS Roma can move clear at the top on Sunday when they play Modena FC. Champions Juventus FC, currently third, play fifth-placed Parma AC, while the side separating the two, Internazionale FC, visit Bologna FC. S.S Lazio travel to Ancona Calcio.
