Bundesliga leaders SV Werder Bremen will be without the league's leading scorer, Ailton, when the German season resumes later this month.
Friendly injury
The 30-year-old Brazilian, who will join FC Schalke 04 next season, damaged muscle fibre in his right thigh during Bremen's recent 2-1 friendly defeat by Dutch side Roda JC. He will not travel to Turkey for the club's training camp, instead remaining at Bremen's rehabilitation centre for treatment.

Coach Thomas Schaaf told the club's website: "He pulled a muscle in his thigh. It remains to be seen how long he will be out." Bremen's campaign gets under way again after the winter break on 31 January with a home game against Hertha BSC Berlin.
