Article body
Bolton Wanderers FC are likely to be without Ricardo Gardner for the rest of the season after the Jamaican international sustained a knee injury in last week's 2-1 home Premiership defeat by Manchester United FC.
Knee specialist
The versatile 25-year-old, who can play in midfield but who has been the club's first-choice left-back this season, will fly to America later this week to see knee specialist Dr Richard Steadman. Gardner sustained a similar injury two-and-a-half years ago, and was treated by Dr Steadman during his rehabilitation.
Absence uncertain
"Ricardo will see Dr Steadman later this week and he'll assess the full extent of the injury," Bolton manager Sam Allardyce told the club's official website. "At this stage it is difficult to understand how long Ricardo will be out for. We'll wait for the results of the assessment and make a decision from there." Bolton are eleventh in the English top flight.
