Former Czech coach
Chovanec, the former Czech Republic coach, was confirmed as Jozef Adamec's replacement by the new Slovan owner, German businessman Daniel Jammer, at a press conference in Bratislava today.
Príbram post
The 43-year-old Slovakian, who won 52 caps as a player for the former Czechoslovakia, coached the Czech national team for four years from 1998. Chovanec's most recent post was with Czech side FC Príbram this season, where he operated first as coach and then as technical director.
Difficult job
He faces a difficult job at Slovan, where he is the fourth coach in charge this season. After the first incumbent, Jozef Valovic, resigned after seven rounds, his assistant Libor Fasiang took charge for four matches before making way for Adamec. Slovan reportedly have debts of around €3m and have lost a number of players to other clubs because of their financial problems.
