Dual role
Munteanu has signed for the Romanian league leaders until June 2005, having ended his four-and-a-half year stay with Wolfsburg on Monday. His contract includes a coaching role as third assistant to head coach Victor Piturca.
Unhappy year
The move represents a fresh start for the 35-year-old, following a disappointing 2003 in which he lost his first-team place at Wolfsburg and missed out on UEFA EURO 2004™ qualification with Romania.
Challenges ahead
"I will fight to win the title [with Steaua]. My goal is to play two more years and contribute to Romania qualifying for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany," Munteanu said.
