Lacatus leaves hometown club

Members

FC Brasov have parted company with coach Marius Lacatus by mutual consent, ending his 18-month reign.

Third-placed finish
Lacatus had been in the job for 18 months, the longest reign of any coach during president Ioan Neculaie's five-year tenure. In 2002/03 the former Romanian international led Brasov to third place in the championship but this season they are languishing in tenth in the 16-team league and have been eliminated from the Romanian Cup.

Hometown hero
Lacatus, who was born in Brasov and made his first division debut with the club before finding fame at FC Steaua Bucuresti, said: "I agreed to leave the team for their own good. I had some problems and I preferred to go now rather than be fired after a defeat."

Training camp
Brasov will leave Romania for their training camp in Antalya with assistant coach Ioan Naghi in temporary charge.
