Famous father
The 35-year-old Lucescu, a former goalkeeper with AFC Rapid Bucuresti, FC National Bucuresti and Brasov among others, played 241 games in the Romanian first division and is the son of Besiktas JK coach Mircea Lucescu.
Aim for the season
In 2002/03 Lucescu was vice-president of Rapid, before deciding to follow in his father's footsteps as a coach. Brasov is his first coaching appointment and he declared: "This season I'll try to avoid relegation and then aim higher in the 2004/05 season."
