Artemio Franchi Prize for Platini

President

The Frenchman's achievements are honoured with an award named after the former UEFA President.

Michel Platini, the former French international and current member of the UEFA Executive Committee, has received the Artemio Franchi Prize in Siena.

Player and official
Platini received the award, named after Italy's former UEFA President, in recognition of his career as a player and official. Artemio Franchi was UEFA President from 1973 until 1983, when he died in a road accident.

Glittering career
Platini enjoyed a glittering career as a player in France and Italy, and was one of the most gifted playmakers of his generation, before moving into football administration.
