A done deal
Defenders Ionut Rada and Ionut Stancu, both 21, were registered as Rapid players today, 48 hours after Rapid president Ioan Becali agreed the transfer with his Universitatea counterpart, Dinel Staicu, and the players' agent, Gheorghe Popescu. The duo had just returned from international duty with Romania in Cyprus when the negotiations took place.
Long-term contracts
Rada and Stancu have signed four-and-a-half year contracts. The transfer fee involved remains undisclosed, although Universitatea could receive two Rapid players in part-exchange. Rapid are third in the Romanian first division, three points behind FC Steaua Bucuresti and FC Dinamo Bucuresti.
