Fulham earned an FA Cup quarter-final trip to Manchester United FC after gaining a 3-0 win at first division West Ham United FC in their fifth-round replay.
Home side on top
Having drawn 0-0 at their Premiership opponents in the original tie, tonight West Ham had the better of the first half, Marlon Harewood hitting the post and later on forcing Edwin van der Sar to save. But Luis Boa Morte headed just wide for Fulham three minutes before the break and that signalled a shift in the balance of power to the visitors.
Fulham pull ahead
Indeed, the second period saw Fulham grab the initiative, and 14 minutes from time they broke the deadlock when American striker Brian McBride controlled a chip from compatriot Carlos Bocanegra - also a January signing - and shot powerfully in. Five minutes later substitute Barry Hayles doubled the lead with a shot from close range.
Victory confirmed
The visitors then confirmed victory through Boa Morte in the final minute. They now visit United on 6 March, while the same day Portsmouth FC welcome holders Arsenal FC. Lower division sides Millwall FC and Tranmere Rovers FC play on 7 March, when Sheffield United FC travel to the winners of tomorrow's replay between Sunderland AFC and Birmingham City FC.
