Article body
Four-year contract
The 26-year-old defender will join Bremen this summer after agreeing a contract that runs until 30 June 2008. "With his technique, his strength in the air and his offensive qualities he will quickly adapt to the Werder way," said the club's sports director, Klaus Allofs.
Krstajic replacement
Nery is intended as a replacement for Mladen Krstajic who will leave for FC Schalke 04 on a free transfer at the season's end. After Frank Fahrenhorst from VfL Bochum 1848, the Brazilian Nery becomes Bremen's second recruit for next season when the club will hope to be participating in the UEFA Champions League.
'A good player'
"I know Gustavo. He is a good player and will help Werder," said Bremen's Brazilian forward Ailton, who is also leaving for Schalke this summer.
