Over 75 appearances
The 31-year-old, capped twice by France, joined Fulham from Newcastle United FC in 2000/01 and has since made over 75 appearances. He began his career with AJ Auxerre, where he won the French domestic double in 1995/96, before a 1998 switch to Paris Saint-Germain FC. He moved to Newcastle a year later.
Boer reward
Goalkeeper Diederik Boer has extended his contract at Dutch club FC Zwolle for a further two years until summer 2006. The 23-year-old has been the first-choice stopper at Zwolle since the winter break. "Diederik is a talented young 'keeper. We are satisfied with his development," said Zwolle technical manger Henry van der Vegt.
Mahon on the move
English first division side Wigan Athletic FC have agreed to sign Blackburn Rovers FC midfield player Alan Mahon from the Premiership club. Promotion-chasing Wigan manager Paul Jewell has been looking for a left-sided player and the 25-year-old Republic of Ireland international fitted the bill.
Leeds reprieve
Blackburn's Premiership relegation rivals Leeds United AFC have been given a further week by creditors to solve their financial problems. In a statement to the stock exchange, Leeds said the standstill agreement keeping them from administration had been extended until 13 February "pending the outcome of negotiations with interested parties and further discussions concerning the longer-term restructuring of the group". A local consortium is currently bidding to take over the club.
Double trouble for Malmö
Malmö FF pair Jörgen Ohlsson and Thomas Olsson may both struggle to be fit for the start of the Swedish season in early April. Ohlsson's knee injury continues to trouble him, and he said: "It is frustrating as I do not know exactly when I will be back." Olsson, meanwhile, has a thigh problem, and said: "It is annoying as the team is now beginning to gel, but hopefully I will be back ahead of the first game."
