Surgery needed
The 32-year-old former Belgian international left Anderlecht's Sunday match against KVC Westerlo on a stretcher. Investigation in hospital on Monday showed he has damaged cruciate ligaments in the left knee, and that he will be out for four to six months. On Thursday he will undergo surgery.

Comeback halted
De Boeck was actually making an injury comeback against Westerlo. In May 2003 he underwent cartilage surgery on his right knee, but recovered to make two appearances in Anderlecht's UEFA Champions League campaign this season.
