3-2 victory at AC Chievo Verona in Serie A.

Uruguayan striker Ernesto Chevanton inspired relegation-threatened US Lecce to an impressive 3-2 victory at AC Chievo Verona in Serie A's early game today.

Goalmouth scramble
Chevanton's powerfully struck free-kick in the 17th minute was fumbled by Chievo goalkeeper Luca Marchegiani and in the scramble that followed defender Andrea Barzagli put through his own goal. Four minutes later Chevanton made it 2-0 for the visitors from another free-kick, as his powerful strike flew into off the post.

Two-goal cushion
The home side reduced the deficit just before half-time with a strike from Brazilian winger Luciano but a 57th-minute Marco Cassetti header restored Lecce's two-goal cushion.

Away win
A Lorenzo D'Anna penalty two minutes from time gave Chievo some late hope, but Lecce held on for their third away win of the season. Lecce stay 15th but join Modena FC on 18 points in the Italian top flight. Chievo remain ninth on 25 points.
