Inter led the Milan derby 2-0 at the interval thanks to goals from Dejan Stankovic and Cristiano Zanetti. But Danish substitute Jon Dahl Tomasson pulled one back for Milan in the 56th minute and 60 seconds later Carlo Ancelotti's side were level after a classy solo goal from Brazilian Kaka.
Seedorf settler
In the 85th minute Dutchman Clarence Seedorf unleashed a spectacular shot from 25 metres to complete a wonderful comeback by the European champions and send them into Tuesday's UEFA Champions League showdown against AC Sparta Praha in great heart.
Lead maintained
The victory maintains Milan's five-point lead at the top of the table, however AS Roma are chasing them hard after an Antonio Cassano hat-trick helped crush AC Siena 6-0. Meanwhile a second-half goal from Mark Iuliano gave champions Juventus FC a 1-0 win at Bologna FC which keeps them a point behind Roma.
Charles remembered
Juve's players wore black arm bands as a mark of respect for their former striker John Charles, who died aged 72 on Saturday. The two teams also stood together before the match to remember the Welsh international, who scored 93 goals in 155 matches for the Turin giants. "We have lost a great man," said Juventus coach Marcello Lippi, whose side travel to face RC Deportivo La Coruña in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Confident Arsenal
In England, unbeaten leaders Arsenal will be in confident mood for their visit to RC Celta de Vigo after they took a firm grip in the title race with a 2-1 win at Chelsea FC, whose opponents on Wednesday in the Champions League are VfB Stuttgart. Eidur Gudjohnsen, sent off on the hour, fired Chelsea ahead after 27 seconds but replies from Patrick Vieira and Edu extended Arsenal's lead to seven points over Manchester United FC.
United held
Sir Alex Ferguson's team drew 1-1 with relegation-threatened Leeds United AFC at Old Trafford after midfielder Paul Scholes had fired them ahead only to see a header from striker Alan Smith restore parity. Ferguson said his struggling side, who travel to FC Porto on Wednesday, now face a difficult task to retain the domestic title. "This is as big a mountain as we have ever had to climb," he said.
Ronaldo strikes
In Spain, Ronaldo struck with a penalty and a dazzling shimmy to help take Madrid five points clear of Valencia CF with a 4-2 win at RCD Espanyol as they looked towards their Champions League showdown against FC Bayern München on Tuesday.
Breathing space
Madrid's victory, which also featured goals from Roberto Carlos and Raúl Bravo, coupled with Valencia's 1-0 loss at home to a resurgent FC Barcelona, has given the reigning champions five points of breathing space. Deportivo's hopes of making it a three-way fight for the title were hit when they were held to a goalless draw at Club Atlético de Madrid, leaving them six points adrift.
Morale boost
In Germany, Bayern secured a morale-booster before hosting Madrid with a 1-0 home win over Hamburger SV, Argentinian defender Martin Demichelis striking the winner with just three minutes left. The champions stay second but have closed the gap to seven points on SV Werder Bremen who drew 0-0 at FC Schalke 04. Third-placed Stuttgart dropped further off the pace with a 1-0 defeat at 1. FC Kaiserslautern.
Four-point lead
In France, AS Monaco FC maintained their four-point lead at they warmed up for the Champions League trip to FC Lokomotiv Moskva with a 4-0 win over Montpellier Hérault SC in which striker Manuel Adebayor scored a hat-trick. Title rivals Olympique Lyonnais and Paris Saint-Germain FC kept up the pressure with solid 2-0 victories against Le Mans UC 72 and EA Guingamp respectively.
