A solitary goal from Brazilian striker Ewerthon ensured BV Borussia Dortmund's recent revival continued as they recorded a 1-0 Bundesliga victory against basement club 1. FC Köln to climb back up to sixth place.
Three of a kind
Dortmund had failed to record a win in nine successive league and cup matches over a three-month spell until the 4-2 victory against VfL Wolfsburg on 7 February, but following last week's win at TSV 1860 München, Matthias Sammer's side made it three in a row on Sunday. Ewerthon's 26th-minute goal was his 12th of the season in all competitions.
Amanatidis decisive
The day's other game involved two more teams in the relegation zone, with Eintracht Frankfurt running out 2-1 winners against Hertha BSC Berlin at the Olimpiastadion. Hertha had won their last two games to move off the bottom but fellow strugglers Frankfurt halted their mini-revival, with a 66th-minute header from Greek striker Ioannis Amanatidis proving decisive.
Headed goals
South Korea striker Cha Doo-ri nodded the visitors into the lead on 18 minutes and although Hertha responded with a header from striker Nando Rafael on the hour, Amanatidis' goal gave Frankfurt all three points.
