Olympiacos jettison Eleftheropoulos

Long-serving goalkeeper Dimitrios Eleftheropoulos has had his contract terminated at Olympiacos CFP.

Contract
The Greek international, who had spent seven and a half seasons at Olympiacos, had his contract cancelled today after a meeting with the club's vice-president Giorgos Louvaris following months of uncertainty over his future.

Position in doubt
The 27-year-old's position had been in doubt ever since he was called into Olympiacos's offices in January and told that he was no longer required and that he should begin to look for a new club. However, the situation deteriorated in recent days as club president Socrates Kokkalis put Eleftheropoulos on indefinite leave of absence.

Successful spell
A long-term fixture at Olympiacos, the goalkeeper made his professional debut while on loan at Proodeftiki FC but returned to the Piraeus club in 1996 to commence what would be a successful spell. Between 1996 and 2003, Eleftheropoulos won seven Greek titles with Olympiacos and also the Greek Cup in 1999.
