PFC Marek Dupnitza have strengthened their squad by signing the 28-year-old former Bulgarian international Galin Ivanov on a free transfer.
Six-month deal
The experienced central defender, who made his name playing for PFC CSKA Sofia, has signed a contract until the end of the season. "I hope I will help the team," Ivanov said. He last played for Washington DC United together with fellow Bulgarian Hristo Stoichkov in the United States and became a free agent after his contract expired on 31 December.
Defensive weakness
Ivanov will reinforce a side with the second-worst defensive record in the domestic league. Marek, who lie ninth in the Bulgarian first division, have conceded 37 goals in 18 games, with only bottom side PFC Botev Plovdiv having conceded more.
