three-year contract extension with Willem II.

Striker Erik de Kruyk has signed a three-year contract extension with Willem II. The 19-year-old forward has agreed a deal that will keep him at the Eredivisie club until summer 2007, having made his first-team debut earlier this season.

Duo to leave
However, the Dutch side have also announced that they will not be extending the existing contracts of two other players. Striker Özcan Özkaya will leave when his contract expires this summer and, despite having a deal until 2005, Frank van Kouwen will also look for another club at the end of the season.

Permanent transfer
Bundesliga outfit VfL Wolfsburg have secured the permanent transfer of striker Juan Carlos Menseguez. The forward joined the club on loan last August and has sufficiently impressed coach Jürgen Röber to earn a €3m move from CA River Plate and a contract until 2007.

Overath succession
Also in Germany, the Bundesliga's bottom club, 1. FC Köln, have announced that former captain Wolfgang Overath will replace Albert Caspers as club president when the latter retires. Overath, a member of the West Germany side that won the 1974 FIFA World Cup, will start working at the club immediately, as an advisor to the board, before taking over.

Murray out
In England, finally, Wolverhampton Wanderers FC goalkeeper Matt Murray will not play again this season. The 22-year-old has not played since the opening day of the season when he suffered a back problem. He subsequently sustained a stress fracture of the foot and next week will undergo an operation involving a bone graft and the insertion of a pin to help the fracture heal.
