Hannover 96 have fired coach Ralf Rangnick following his side's loss against VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Hannover 96 have sacked coach Ralf Rangnick following his side's Saturday defeat at the hands of VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Key defeat
Despite leading Hannover to the Bundesliga from the lower leagues, Rangnick struggled to get the best from his players in the top flight as the side slipped to 15th place in the standings. After losing to Hertha HSC Berlin last weekend, Rangnick was told only victory against Mönchengladbach could save his job - and they lost 1-0.

Seven down
Rangnick, who had been in his third year at the club, is the seventh Bundesliga coach to lose his job this season. The club are expected to name a replacement in the coming weeks.
