Fenerbahçe fuelled by Nobre

Members

Brazilian striker Márcio Nobre scored a hat-trick in Fenerbahçe SK's 5-2 defeat of Konyaspor.

Márcio Nobre scored a hat-trick as a 5-2 defeat of Konyaspor ensured Fenerbahçe SK maintained their grip on the Turkish Superleague.

Brazilian magic
The Brazilian striker has been on loan from homeland side Cruzeiro FC since the New Year and has now scored in every match he has contested at the Sükrü Saraçoglu stadium. His team’s other goals came courtesy of Dutch striker Pierre van Hooijdonk and Turkish international defender Ümit Özat. Fabio Luciano’s own goal and Cenk Isler’s penalty proved scant consolation for the away team.

Eight-goal thriller
Besiktas JK, meanwhile, also scored five goals, overcoming a 2-0 deficit to defeat Elazigspor 5-3 at the Inönü stadium and stay six points behind the leaders. The home side were 2-0 up inside 20 minutes after goals from Ondrej Debnar and Yunus Altun but Tayfur Havutçu, Sergen Yalçin and Adrian Ilie turned the match on its head by half-time. Egyptian forward Ahmed Hassan added two more in the second half.

Strength to strength
Trabzonspor, in third, have gone from strength to strength following Ziya Dogan’s arrival as coach and defeated MKE Ankaragücü 2-1 on Friday thanks to goals from Emre Toraman and Fatih Tekke. Denizlispor strengthened their claim to fourth place by defeating Istanbulspor AS 2-0 in Izmir with Ömer Riza and Ersen Martin on target.

Another loss
Galatasaray SK, in fifth, suffered their sixth defeat of the campaign when they went down 2-1 against relegation-threatened Akçaabat Sebatspor by virtue of a last-minute goal from Erman Özgür while Gaziantepspor leapfrogged the Istanbul side into fifth thanks to a 2-1 away win against Çaykur Rizespor.

Gençlerbirligi rest
In other games, second from bottom Bursaspor edged out Malatyaspor 3-2 to collect their first win under new coach Nedzad Bijedic, eighth-placed Samsunspor overcame Diyarbakirspor - a position above them - 3-1 at home while the encounter between Adanaspor AS and UEFA Cup participants Gençlerbirligi SK has been postponed by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) until 31 March.
